Polymer Processing and Rheology

This course provides an overview of rheology with an emphasis on the application to processing polymers. Basic and advanced concepts in rheology and processing, and various methods for rheological characterization of polymers will be discussed. The rheological principles, together with continuum mechanics and conservation laws of momentum, energy and mass, will be used to analyze industrially important polymer processes such as extrusion (single and twin screw), molding (blow, injection and rotational), wire coating, film blowing and stretching, and fiber spinning.
