As the 20th century drew to its close, and our new century began, the battle over the world economy intensified. Some people feared globalization and questioned the benefits; others welcomed it.

PROLOGUE TO THE FIRST PART: THE BATTLE OF IDEAS (VIDEO)

Join the Economics Department to watch Episode One: The Battle of Ideas of the Commanding Heights documentary series. Episode One delineates the 20th century history of thought and explains how the free market ideology came into dominance during the 20th century. Episode one will be followed by a discussion facilitated by faculty members.

This is a great opportunity to learn about economics, history and politics in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere. This is the first of three episodes with part II to be shown on November 13 and part III on February, 18, 2008. A last documentary will be shown on March 18, 2008 (the topic will be announced latter). This event is open to all and each episode is approximately two hours, with time for discussion and questions.

 Students of all levels will benefit from this event. Don't miss this opportunity to interact with economic students and faculty outside of the traditional classroom.
