Dr. Frank F. Mallory recently attended the 12th North American Caribou Workshop in Goose Bay-Happy Valley, Labrador, November 3-6, 2008 and presented a paper by Popp, J., F.F. Mallory and J. Schaefer entitled "Site fidelity in the Mealy Mountain woodland caribou herd in Labrador." |
Dr. Yves Alarie attended the Annual Entomological Society of America meeting November 15th-20th in Reno, Nevada, USA. The ESA meeting is one of the most important meeting in Entomology worldwide with over 1200 oral and poster presentations. Dr. Alarie represented Laurentian University at various levels during the meeting: (1) guest speaker; (2) co-organizer (with Dr. C. Shaboo, University of Kansas) of a symposium on insect immatures; (3) moderator for a student competition session; and finally, (4) as a member of the editiorial board of the journal Annals of the Entomological Society of America, which meets during the conference. The symposium on insect immatures organized by Drs Alarie and Chaboo attracted about 200 participants. A virtual issue of the journal Insect Systematics, one of the leading journals in entomology, was created in recognition for this symposium.
